Reverend Robert Reese Lowe
THE DEFINING MOMENT
When Rev. Robert Reece Lowe arrived at Mount Moriah AME Church on Founder’s Day in 1986, he preached his first sermon to a congregation of a few members. Mount Moriah’s original members remembered it as a day marked with uncertainty and expectation. Rev. Lowe’s example of faith, encouragement and perseverance breathed new life into the ministry.
Under Rev. Lowe’s leadership, Mount Moriah has experienced phenomenal growth and expanded its community outreach and global missions. In 1991, just five years after Rev. Lowe’s appointment, Mount Moriah’s membership had more than quadrupled in size and a $2-million church was well erected on Francis Lewis Blvd in Queens. Mount Moriah had its share of struggles along the way, but one thing remained certain…Rev. Lowe’s faith was unwavering and he was willing to stay the course. He would always carry a spirit of excellence and expectation - believing that God moves from one level of glory to the next.
Rev. Lowe has provided clear vision and dynamic leadership for over 25 years as shepherd over the Mount Moriah AME Church. He regularly tells his congregation, “The Lord did it one time, He’ll do it again.” He labors in the Word of God and stands on His promises. While he believes in abundance, more importantly he understands the significance of giving. His generosity to individuals, families, and ministries is a powerful illustration of God’s love and grace.
He believes that we are all God’s workmanship and predestined for greatness. His prayer for God’s saints is that we live victoriously and walk in our purpose.
Rev. Lowe’s vision of growth and outreach has led Mount Moriah into the 21st century with power and authority. In 2005, Mount Moriah decided to expand its walls to reach its growing number of worshippers. Mt. Moriah has been greatly blessed and is currently in the midst of constructing a new 1600 seat edifice. Following the opening of the new edifice, Mount Moriah’s Promise House Youth Church will be officially established in the current sanctuary, allowing all children, teens, and young adults a safe haven and unique praise and worship experience.
The AME Church has embraced Rev. Lowe and Mount Moriah as a model for church growth throughout the country as it is recognized as one of the AME’s fastest growing mega churches with more than 50 active ministries.
For over 50 years, Robert Lowe has been perfecting praise and worship. He’s used his passion for music to reach the masses. Rev. Lowe is also the co-host of the nationally broadcast urban Gospel music series, I-Gospel on the INSP Network. Rev. Lowe has been at the helm of several gospel album projects and performances worldwide. He’s served as the former director for the Queens Community Choir and as the lead of his church-based choir, Reverend Robert Lowe and Generations. Rev. Lowe played a pivotal role in establishing the Moriah Music Group label and has performed alongside Generations at The Apollo Theater, the Bobby Jones’ Urban Impact Summit, Grand Ol’ Opry, and Bermuda Music Festival. He also made appearances on countless other radio and television programs across the country.
Rev. Lowe is a renaissance man, a worshipper, a believer, an entrepreneur, a builder, a worker, a dreamer, and a healer. He is a man after God’s own heart. He attributes all the success and growth of the ministry to the power and favor of God.
